Overview

Major Functions:

Assist MDI retailers in planning new construction and store remodels to accommodate Category Manager plans, including all aspects of construction, bidding, equipment purchasing, equipment installation, fixture plans, and drawings. This role is critical in driving the expansion of our reach - and will help influence our Independent Disruptors at MDI, WLF, Souto Foods, and Import Mex.

  • Coordinate store layout design process and set décor for store remodels and new construction.
  • Determine, source, and negotiate all store equipment needs according to space allocations and Merchandiser/Category Manager requirements. This includes but is not limited to docks, coolers, freezers, and all fixtures.
  • Assist MDI customers in contractor selection and guide/inform the entire construction process. Insure general   contractors complete projects in compliance with architectural specifications.
  • Order all fixture products and coordinate installation with contractors. Efficiently coordinate deliveries to keep projects on schedule and prevent lost time.
  • Prepare and negotiate product capital estimates for owner approval. Define equipment needs of the internal and external store layout. Coordinate front-end, checkout, and receiving systems with RAS.
  • Manage and coordinate setup for Retail Development and third-party vendors at all food shows, including arranging for various vendors to bring equipment and assuring that all computer access and special electrical needs are met.
  • Conduct on-site inspections for stores under construction and ensure that equipment is being installed properly and building is according to architectural blueprint specifications.
  • Conduct final punch list before releasing funds to the contractors.
  • Negotiate with various equipment manufacturers to resolve any MDI customer issues concerning rebates, gross margins, incentives, and other programs affecting gross profit.
  • Generate initial store fixture plans utilizing computer assisted design/drawing (CAD) software.
  • Manage bill-through programs for companies that use MDI to invoice their products but ship direct.
  • Ensure that all projects comply with federal, state, and local regulations. Represent ALI or independent customers with various government authorities to assure approvals and/or entitlements.
  • Advise owners on options and the laws/regulations that impact our business
  • Prepare, manage, and bill equipment invoices to ensure that all bills are paid on a timely basis and that MDI has no write-offs due to non-payment.
  • May be required to perform other tasks as necessary.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bi-Lingual
  • BS/BA in Business or equivalent experience
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, including writing, speaking, and active listening
  • Ability to manage TEAM alignment/resourcing and project management
  • Ability to drive sales and schedule to achieve responsibilities above
  • Strong ability for analysis, gathering disparate sources of data to deliver on go forward recommendations
